I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the Chairman of "Myanmar Chamber of Commerce for Pharmaceutical & Medical Device" (MCCPMD) during an exciting time of change, not only in our industry, but also in an association that is evolving to meet the needs of its members.
Since foundation in 1999, MCCPMD has remained committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Myanmar. MCCPMD plays an industry's leading voice and organizational, educational, and facilitating roles both locally and internationally.
Over the years, MCCPMD has protected the interests of member companies through a number of initiatives that are dedicated eventually for the larger benefit of the common people. MCCPMD cooperates with the government and other agencies in ensuring that its pharmaceutical services are comparable to the best in the world and are available and accessible to the people of Myanmar. Other objectives include promoting cooperation and collaboration among healthcare professionals, encouraging the exchange of ideas among members, and organizing meetings and other functions to promote social intercourse amongst members.
Our membership continues to grow as we work to provide the type of support consistent with our vision of achieving a healthier public through exemplary programs. We remain committed to keeping MCCPMD accessible to all programs by keeping our membership fees highly affordable, whilst working to enhance our benefits to member programs.
I welcome participation from members to be active in subcommittees that have been formed in order to make MCCPMD an association in which everyone can openly suggest and exchange ideas and share issues and values of common interests. As with anything, we are stronger working together than we are as separate entities. Our voices together are much more likely to be heard.

The Myanmar Chamber of Commerce for Pharmaceutical & Medical Device was founded on 2nd April 1999 as a non-governmental Organization (NGO) under the guidance of the Union of the Myanmar Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) by following top government officials’ direction to improve healthcare services for people with goals to be abide by the national drug regulations and lead and contribute to improve the corporation amongst our members’ businesses in improving public healthcare collectively.
The Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development officially approved the formation of MCCPMD on April 3. 2001, with the official license number (4/2001)along with the MCCPMD registration number (9/2001). MCCPMD members are owners of local Companies, foreign-owned companies, individuals and entrepreneurs.
MCCPMD represents its members and the interests of pharmaceuticals and medical device businesses such as:
1) Aiming to provide good quality, and efficacy and safe to consume pharmaceutical products for public consumption
2) Making pharmaceuticals and medical devices that are widely available to improve the standard of public health
3) Finding means to pave the way to be able to produce more pharmaceuticals and medical devices domestically
4) Abiding by the government's rules and regulations when manufacturing and product more pharmaceuticals and medical devices trading businesses
5) Improving the trading system up to the current international standards in conducting the pharmaceutical and medical device trading businesses
6) Providing intermediary services in facilitating research activities and information gathering and sharing activities, public health education and seminars related to the pharmaceuticals and medical devices trading businesses
7) Facilitating in resolving the members’ business concerns with relevantd governmental bodies, associations and foreign parties.
8) Providing business connections with foreign entities in supporting of the pharmaceutical and medical device trading businesses
9) Provide arbitration and mediation services for any arbitration cases between entities and businesses based on the current governing laws and regulations
10) Supporting the pharmaceutical and medical device industry by ensuring constant and adequate supply of pharmaceutical and medical devices nationwide,the prevention of illegal and imitating pharmaceuticals and medical devices entering the market; improving the knowledge and awareness of quality healthcare services to the members and the public, to improve the pharmaceutical and medical device industry standards by collaborating with the national government by following their guidelines.
